High-Risk Travel

In today’s world all international travel poses certain risks. However, in some regions those risks are heightened due to armed conflicts, political instabilities affecting rule of law or functioning government services, or pervasive violent criminal activities,  or are result of major epidemics, and natural disasters.

US Department of State issues regular travel warnings and ranks countries’ safety for the U.S. citizens. They also publish information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world on their Worldwide Caution page.

Harvard University’s Safety and  Security team have developed their own Travel Risk Ratings - a tool more applicable for university students, faculty, and staff  travelers.
